Disaster Relief Appeal Website
Friends in two animal rescue organizations requested my volunteer assistance in constructing a website to solicit donations to purchase and send medical supplies to veterinary rescue teams in Japan in the aftermath of the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami of 2011.
Time was of the essence and this site was built on WordPress in less than two days. Donations were collected via PayPal, funneled through the two animal rescue organizations (which could purchase meds at a discount).
The site collected over a thousand dollars of donations in the weeks following the disaster. There wasn’t to much donor activity after a few months, but the site is still live on the net and capable of accepting donations.
One of the originators of the SpayItForward.com appeal wrote an article in a local newspaper about my work on the behalf of animal rescue. Here’s a quote from the article
When long-time friend Suna Kneisley needed assistance for her Sacramento nonprofit group C.A.T.S. (Cats about Town Society), Buratovich immediately jumped in and offered his talents.
Kneisley describes Buratovich as one of the most βboundlessly creative, dynamic and whimsicalβ people she knows, and is grateful for the large amount of time he has volunteered to create and maintain websites for animal rescue.
She encourages people to visit the sites he does for C.A.T.S. and for the nonprofit Spay It Forward to see just a few examples of his talents.
